Do you fully check Twitter addresses before blindly connecting, tweeting & RT'ing comments!?
A woman in the US has made headlines after complaining about cricket messages sent to her Twitter account, which is named @theashes.
The woman says she knows nothing about cricket but has received scores of tweets about the Ashes contest between Australia and England.
She finally complained by tweeting that she was "not a freaking cricket match".
The number of her followers has risen from 300 to 6,100 and an airline has offered her a free flight to Australia.
The woman, who Australian media say is Ashley Kerekes, from Massachusetts, tweeted that "this is not the account of the cricket match. Check profiles before you send mentions, it's incredibly annoying and rude".
Ms Kerekes told the Brisbane Times newspaper that she had about 300 followers at the start of the first Ashes Test at the Gabba on Thursday, but by Monday morning that had risen to 6,100.
The 22-year-old said her boyfriend had been calling her "the ashes" for a long time, but that neither he nor she could remember why he had given her this nickname.
In spite of her initial anger over the cricket tweets, she told the Brisbane Times that becoming an overnight Twitter celebrity was "amazing".
She has also started to sell T-shirts with the slogan: "I am not a freaking cricket match."
On Twitter I prefer to check everything before following someone and even more before RTing a comment.

I have been following the same people for quite awhile and have confidence in the tweets that they send out. In general I would say that I don't usually check Twitter accounts before re-tweeting. I would not follow someone without checking their profile first - I like to have an idea of what sorts of things they are tweeting about.

I don't auto-follow and I always check out the people I am going to follow, which is why sometimes it takes a while to catch up with people.
If I'm going to RT something - I'll always have followed and read the link to see if it's of interest. I would never 'blindly' RT things from people I don't know. There are some people who always add value and I'm happy to RT regularly.
