Google Drive - Free Cloud Storage Offer?

Industry insiders report that Google is proposing a consumer service offering free cloud-based storage for personal photos & other online content.

The service, which could be named ‘Google Drive’, may offer 5GB (gigabytes) free storage with greater storage available for a monthly fee.

This would create tough competition to other popular cloud services including Dropbox and Microsoft's ‘SkyDrive’.

Reports indicate that Google Drive will work with image search technology to support a variety of document types & formats - including PDF files and photographs.

Could this mean a further market shake-up in the offing?
